WHAT DOES PINEAPPLE SYMBOLISE?
Pineapples are known as the symbol for good times and warm hospitality.
The symbol was also used frequently in the 18th and 19th centuries to decorate bed posts, tablecloths, napkins, and anything associated with welcoming guests. And it remains a popular icon till this date.
Closer to home, pineapples are also used as a symbol of generosity. The Chinese word for pineapple is also homophone to ‘luck arriving’ which is why it is commonly seen during Chinese New Year and ceremonies.
CELEBRITY STATUS OF PINEAPPLE

Oranges have their own day and so do bananas. So, it’s only fitting that the pineapple is also celebrated.
The world “pineapple” was originally used to name the reproductive organs of conifer trees in 1398. The spiky tropical fruit somewhat hijacked the name in 1664 due to its resemblance to the pine cone. The rarity and its distinctive shape, taste and aromas have made the pineapple such a coveted fruit that King Charles II of England had a portrait of him painted with supposedly the first pineapple grown in England in 1677.
Today, the fruit is a universal symbol of hospitality and has been picked up especially by bartenders across the world.
RISE OF PINEAPPLE RUM
Dating back to the late 1700s, distillers on the Caribbean islands would soak their rum in pineapple while in the barrel. This technique injected the rum with some extra sweetness and richness. TIKI LOVERS Pineapple has its roots in tradition in the days when Caribbean distillers were macerating fresh pineapples in high proof sugar cane spirit to add a dimension of fruity freshness to the rum.
Created in 2015, TIKI LOVERS Pineapple Rum is based on all-natural extracts of tropical pineapples sourced from South America. The fruits are harvested at the peak of ripeness, and their sweet and seductive juice is extracted by pressing. The unfermented juice is then stripped of some of its water content to emerge as a complex pineapple extract that does not water down the blend of rums.
The rum blend is composed of aged & unaged Jamaican pot-still rum from Hampden Estate and Worthy Park, 3-year-old Barbados Rum from Foursquare Distillery, aged in former Bourbon Whiskey barrels, and some young column still rums from both Trinidad and Guyana.
The rum blend, at a juicy 45% Alc. Vol. is then infused with the pineapple extraction and allowed to rest for several weeks. This gives the flavors of sugar cane time to mingle elegantly with fruity layers of juicy pineapple while maintaining the full and complex aromas of the rum blend that will evoke the flavor of the Caribbean islands and their long heritage of rum production.
TIKI LOVERS Pineapple is not the usual kind of flavored Rum. It’s bold, it’s funky, it is not hiding its rum personality, and it stands out where it should.
